Yes, I am doing a year-long English Literature course at the University of Leeds.

It is really hard to do updates right now. Stinkin' internet!

Nice, may as well do an English Lit course at the source! That's exciting, I wish I was in school this year...but I'll be back to the grind next year I suppose!

Where do you get this information about England? Idiots? I'm going to have to assume idiots. It's like saying America sucks. What, the whole country?

That said, America sucks.

I'm sure England's not right for everybody, but personally I am enjoying myself immensely. People are so much more laid back here (drunk) and the candy is absolutely stunning. Cadbury owns this town. Also, pubs are completely awesome. There's simply nothing like them in the states that I'm aware of. It'd be nicer if they stayed open a bit later, however.

I've only been here about a week and a half and I have an obscene amount of friends, most of them are actually foreigners because most of the initial planned activities were set around making the foreigners meet one another, but I just met a bunch of Brits from my major and they're also extremely nice and cool. Plus, I know several hot girls. These things just plain didn't happen for me in the US.

I will say that everything is expensive though. I will probably be poor much sooner than I realize. But, for the most part, this move is so far the best thing I've ever done, period.

Do keep in mind that, before this, I was living in New Jersey.

END OF STORY!!!!

I'm glad you're having a good time there Joe. Studying abroad in Europe would be absolutely amazing (minus the extreme costs!). You'll definitely be happier there than in the U S of A, I'm sure.

Speaking of England, have you met up with Gringo at all?

Well, Gringo and I have met up in the US before, I think three times in total.

We actually pulled an old switcheroo. He moved to the US a year or two ago so now I am lving in his country.

But, yeah, he's apparently going to be back in the UK pretty soon for a few weeks and his parents don't even live particularly far from where I am so we will probably meet up.

That's some rad stuff.

I would prefer to live in Germany...why? I have no idea. Just seems like where I would fit in.

I just hear that England is pretty boring, I hear this from my buddies who did the whole Eurocrosscontinentfunbackpack Post High School Trip. I didn't cause I'm a poor Mexican. :/

It might be boring if you are cavorting about from country to country trying to find crazy parties and sightseeing and bungee jumping and whatnot, I suppose. But if you're going to find a place to live for awhile where people are witty and generally far more honest, polite, and helpful (at least in comparison to east coast Americans), Britain is a-ok with me.

Also, people start drinking at 12 in the afternoon. Boring nothin'!!!

Hell, you could just come to Canada for that!

That being said, I'm with Picante on that...I would far prefer to go to Germany but that's also because I have family there and I could go to school for free if I wanted. Plus the music culture is amazing! I've never really had much desire to go to England though...I'm more for the Germany/Austria/Italy/Greece type thing. Actually there's an amazing music school in Austria which would be really neat...but then I wouldn't get the free schooling. Hmm. Ah well, likely won't happen for me any time soon anyways!

That's actually very true. I'm friends with two Canadians here and I've also been there and people are friendlier and more honest. But yeah they are still just a bit too familiar...well and, more importantly, Canada still feels accessible to home. I wanted to get the fuck away from everybody I knew.
