Don?t know why I waited this long, should?ve addressed it earlier, but it was a great time. However, everyone?s pretty much seen it by now so there?s no reason in talking about it too much. Still I had some of my own problems with the thing that are more or less meaningless in the long run.

What I really want to know are your opinions of what I should do about it. It takes a bit of effort (but not too much) to come up with something new and any suggestions will be considered.

Don?t think too hard though, any reflection of your own opinions will do.

Yes, yes, the story was "generic" and all. But that doesn't matter at all! It wasn't at all the point and goal of the movie: to show off his creation, the NA'Vi: Who they are, what they do, how and why they do it, what comes of it, and their potential. And in that sense, the movie, the story, everything involved met and surpassed that goal perfectly. Even the Avatars themselves were simply a plot mechanism to further involve us with the NA'Vi, to really step into their shoes to help us relate to them. And yes, the humans are the bad guys for the obvious reason that once again, the focus is on the NA'Vi. It introduced problems for them, and how they went about solving them.

So! Sentient species + creative ideas + plot formula that works + generic, yet sympathetic conflict + awesome graphics = Freakin' awesome.

I have NAE seen it. But I half-watched it on a bootleg copy on a bus from Vietnam to Cambodia. The sound was voiced over by Vietnamese people though so I couldn't really hear it. Looks like a real piece though. I have little to no interest in it aside from the Juno-type interest I have in it, which is that it's such a rampant success that I feel like I should see it just so I can pick apart why I hate it so much more effectively when talking to jokers like you.

The fact that you're making excuses for it having a cliched story certainly bodes well, I'll say!!!

So....to cut the ranting short, I can't really say I hate it because I haven't really seen it, but I hate it.

Actually I was talking about my Avatar, the dapper black gentleman to the left, not the movie as I didn't even mention it. It's time for, I hope, some change in the way a box represents me here and I'm on the lookout for something that best reflects myself until I feel like changing it again.

I also haven't seen that movie and don't plan on it cause gas and tickets to a theater showing it in 3D are expensive as hell in Illinois. I'll watch it on DVDrayHD or whatever but not really in the mood to "go out" and see it cause...it's pretty cold outside lately.

But enough about that movie, this thread is about Avatars not Avatar! Truffle Shuffle

Well, that just makes me feel sheepish, Averagejeff Vagueson.

Yeah, I changed my Avatar. I thought the one Joe found for me was WAY past cooler than a bouncing omnom wraith. So I found it again. Ook ook.

Jeff, I think this should be your avatar: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jclement/3982111893/

Bahahaha ahhaah ahahaha

I totally thought you were talking about the movie in your first post too...and actually what came to mind was that you were trying to write a review on it and needed some input or something. I don't know. I haven't seen it, and don't plan on seeing it any time soon.

With regards to your avatar, I still don't have any constructive input to this thread. I just wanted to laugh at the silly misunderstanding.
