Gets LOTS of attention on Listen to Me. Longest article in site history? I think maybe it really is this time.

Caity read it all and we sent her a decoder ring.1 If you can prove you even read the footnotes you can get one too!2

1. Caity, please help support me in this lie.

2. Supplies exhausted. In lieu of decoder ring, user will receive ziploc full of Kool-Aid.3

3. Also not.

I'm just personally very happy Rebecca is getting the respect she deserves as an iconic musician.

Have your Lady Gaga's, your Britney's. I'll stick with Rebecca, thank you very much.

The first time I heard that song was about 2 weeks ago. Yeah, it's terrible but no more terrible than William Hung (he's sold albums people), Tay "Chocolate Rain" Zonday and anyone else that's gained internet fame through our "so bad it's good" mentality.

It's just part of the cycle, like it or not, next year or by this summer there will be somebody else to take whatshernames place and then it'll happen all over again after that.

Until then everybody just squeezes as much as they can from the flavor of the season. Companies make money, internet personalities (if you can call someone that) make their jokes and get hits on their site (ad revenue in some cases $$$) while the rest of us get something to make fun of. Everybody wins until we get bored and move on to the new thing, forgetting about this until it's mentioned on Tosh.0 a year from now.

Maybe when they stop using autotune and get all touchy-feely about their music they'll start getting some actual fame within their respective target audiences.

Yes, I received said decoder ring just today....quite pleased with the effects.

Also, though I haven't gone back to read the article again since you posted it before, I do occasionally think about the article and how I enjoyed it.

AND, I get that song in my head all the time. It makes me want to rip my head open and claw it out with my bare fingers...yeah that's right, not even sterilised latex fingers. That might be a bit extreme, but the sentiment is still there.

Joe, how did you footnote your post on here? I don't see any superscript options Sad

I am glad. It is an article to NEVER stop thinking about. Also, believe it or not, I added MORE footnotes to it since I originally put it up so it is now even longer, just like everyone was totally hoping for. Huzzah.

The footnotes in my post here were a clever ruse. I just messed around with the font sizes.

Ah, of course! They weren't even superscripted. I should have known.

When I read it, it was because I was brutally procrastinating on a paper that was due...that really helped me waste time, and it happened to be enjoyable too for the most part. Although I haven't checked it out since the added footnotes or anything.

Popular music is kind of like politics....after a rather discouraging federal election in Canada yesterday, I am coming to realise that people like the train wrecks...Canada has followed very closely in America's footsteps, re-electing (with a majority parliament this time) a douchebag much like your George W. Anyway, he's a complete wad who was held in "contempt of parliament" and everyone loves to hate him, yet still somehow his party won by a landslide--just like Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber and all of the other overnight YouTube success/sob stories.

I was impressed by the lyrical handling of the 35 year old black man at the wheel of a car in an entirely different part of the city no where near Rebecca Black or her impressionable teenage friends.

It was like I was watching a Kanye West video.
